On Wed. Oct. 18th, 4:30-5:45pm at Library Learning Resources (3 Tippett Road), the Professional Library will be hosting TDSB Teachers Read, a new professional learning opportunity featuring 5 great educators each sharing the book they think all TDSB Teachers should read.

Leading up to the event, we’ll be featuring each TDSB Teachers Read Panelist on this blog so you can learn more about them and the book they’ll be presenting.

Today, meet Jennifer Watt, Program Coordinator Teachers Learning and Leading

In her role, Jennifer (@TDSB_BT on Twitter) supports beginning teachers and their mentors as well as teacher leadership. She has many different interests including inquiry learning, civics education, Indigenous education, and the role of creativity and empathy in learning. One day, she hopes to eliminate report cards. When she’s not doing all of this wonderful work, Jennifer also plays the bass guitar.

Jennifer will be presenting Releasing the Imagination: Essays on Education, the Arts, and Social Change by Maxine Greene. She chose this book because she sees it as positioning education as a place where students (and teachers) can become agents of hope, possibility, empathy and understanding. Reserve a copy of Releasing the Imagination from the Professional Library

Jennifer has also written several excellent books on inquiry-based learning that are available through the Professional Library:

To hear Jennifer’s pitch for why all TDSB educators should read Releasing the Imagination, join us Wed. Oct. 18th from 4:30pm-5:45pm for our panel discussion.

You can join us in-person at Library Learning Resources (3 Tippett Rd.) or follow us on Twitter @ProfLibraryTDSB to watch a livestream of the event. We’ll also post a recording after the event.
