Toronto Star: Do uniformed police belong in Toronto Schools?

An interesting article in today’s Toronto Star by Andrea Gordon titled Students benefit from police in schools, Peel study finds.

From the article: “An independent study [me: not to be released until the fall] examining the impact of police officers in Peel high schools has found their presence reduces student stress, risks of bullying and harm, improves attendance and makes teens feel safer and better able to learn. “

And:  “Black Lives Matter, Education Not Incarceration, Latinx and Afro-Latin-America Abya Yala Education Network (LAEN) are among those calling for the program to be immediately abolished in letters to police and school boards, an online petition that has garnered more than 800 supporters and a social media campaign.”

The article also includes a poll –  Do uniformed police belong in Toronto schools?
