Visual voice for diverse learners

Visual Voice for Diverse Learners is the title of an article in the January/February 2017 issue of Principal, pp 28-31.

From page 29: “A strategy to bridge communications gaps and increase students achievement is encouraging learners to make their thinking visible through art. Sketching, designing, drawing, painting and constructing tangible models provide students with a visual voice.”

This short article includes the following sections:

  • and then 8 tips to integrate an art-infused, culturally responsive teaching strategy.

One resource referred to by the author Cheri Sterman, includes: Art as a tool for teachers of English language learners (2010, New York State Education Department)
