Today’s Toronto Star includes a front page article titled Schools urged to reconsider team logos, mascots by Azzura Lalani and Sammy Hudes. Based on a letter from Minister of Education Letter from Minister to Chairs of Boards of Education regarding logos and mascots offensive to indigenous and Memo from the Deputy Minister on the school use of offensive Indigenous names, Logos and/or Mascots, school boards are encouraged to review the use such images and “if stereotypes are discovered to take appropriate actions to be taken to foster a school culture that is safe inclusive and accepting for all”
