Rural school closings in news

School closings typically invite negative community reactions and over the past couple of days, the Toronto Star has reported on this. See Kirstin Rushoway’s The scoop on school closings (Chapman’s  Ice Cream has offered to by a school property and lease it back to local school board) and Nicole Thompson’s article Ontario parents protest a slew of rural school closures, claim funding model is faulty  (length of time spent being bussed is detrimental to students especially if they are interested in extracurricular activities).
