The Ontario organization People for Education (P4E) have a subsite called Measuring What Matters.

From About... “People for Education – working with experts from across Canada  – is leading a multi-year initiative to create a new way of thinking about skills, to find consensus on a new set of goals for education, and to develop a method of measuring schools’ progress toward those goals.

The goal of Measuring What Matters is to create a set of measures that are publicly understandable, educationally useful and reflect the broad skills students will need in the workforce and to take their place as engaged citizens.”

Measuring what Matters looks at 5 domains: From the domains: “Each of these domains overlaps; each is found throughout the curriculum; each has an impact on students’ long-term success; and each is connected to the broad skills students will need to be productive, engaged, healthy citizens.”

In the late summer/fall of 2015, Measuring What Matters made available a series of draft competencies under each of the domains and in March 2016, they made available a parallel set of tip sheets. Below are links to all the domains, documents.

  1. Health: Draft Competencies; Tip Sheet
  2. Creativity & Innovation: Draft Competencies; Tip Sheet
  3. Socio-Emotional skills: Draft Competencies; Tip Sheet
  4. Citizenship: Draft Competencies; Tip Sheet
  5. Quality Learning Environments: Draft Competencies; Tip Sheet

These little gems are tucked away and for whatever reasons do not receive the same media attention/promotion that other P4E resources receive. These are worth checking out!
