@EasyBib is an incredible, free tool in your educator toolkit

Submitted by Lauren M., one of our fabulous reference librarians:

You probably know that EasyBib is a citation machine—meaning that it generates citations for research sources for you.  You might even know about its incredible (free!) search engine, called Research, that searches through the millions of bibliographies stored in EasyBib to bring you the most popular sources for research on your subject.  Research even tells you how many times the resource was cited and whether EasyBib has designated the website as credible or not!

What many educators don’t know, however, is that EasyBib (and partner companies ResearchReady and ScholarSpace) has an incredible suite of educator resources for teacher-librarians and classroom teachers.  Sure, they include the requisite how-to guides for citations, but they also offer free educator resources like infographics (my personal favorite!), reports, handouts, tip sheets, lesson plans (!), and more!  They even offer free professional development webinars!

According to their site, some popular downloads include:

*Interesting accompanying infographic available here that compares various student research habits & teacher-librarian perspectives in 2012 and 2014.  This could be a great lesson starter or statistic sets to bring to school decision-makers.

Accessing EasyBib is easy for you and your students!  The Research Toolkit in the TDSB Virtual Library contains a link to it.  Student features (citation machine and Research search engine) don’t require accounts, but the accessing the multitude of educator resources requires a free account in most cases.  Of course, there are plenty more features if you’d like to upgrade to a PRO or a school account for your students—including an ad-free environment, cloud-based note-taking and essay outlines, etc.
