This weekend,  Toronto is hopping with a variety of literary, historic and arts events open to the public. All events have free admission.

Word on the Street at Queen’s Park Circle where you can visit publishers’  booths (big, small, nonprofit), listen to Canadian authors speak/read  (important: check the program guide for schedules), check out books/magazines/events for all age ranges. Wear comfortable shoes and carry an umbrella.

Get Fortified, at Fort York, is celebrating the opening of a new visitor’s centre  with  exhibits & art installations (eg the War of 1812, WWWI) and cultural events.  Admission is free all weekend.

The Sketchbook Project at the Distillery District is “an evolving library that features more than 18,000 artists’ books contributed by creative people from 130+ countries. The Sketchbook Project transports thousands of sketchbooks city-to-city in their custom Mobile Library.”
